Balik Pulau
This is a quaint and laid-back town in the hinterland. It is quite busy during the weekend when folks come to eat the laksa or just walk about to experience life as it was a generation ago. Many come here during the durian season which is from mid June to late July. Some types of durians grown here are very costly as these are reputed to be the best in Malaysia. You should also visit the nearby Kuala Sungai Pinang, a fishing village where you can try savoury Malay food. Head towards Taman Kuala Sungai Pinang to go to it.
