Mother and child
Mother and child lived in a shack The father left and never came back He disappeared with his belongings Leaving them with just a few things They couldn't pay the electricity So they used candles nightly They set up a stall by the roadside And helped each other side by side Many customers passed them by This was expected, they knew why Their fruits didn't look good at all Fresh ones were sold at a nearby stall What they sold was barely enough They survived but it was tough The mother took care of the daughter And there was love for one another The child had to start schooling She woke up early in the morning She wore her school uniform And bade farewell to her mom Her school was quite far away Alone she walked all the way On school days she walked there As she couldn't afford the bus fare One day as she walked in the rain Around a bend the school bus came The driver did not see her clearly And ran her down accidentally! The mother ran to her quickly She held her child tenderly With teary eyes, she watched her die The next day, she took her own life |
