As we grow old As we grow old, we need supplements Vitamins and minerals are requirements We think that natural herbs are safe Consuming herbs is now the rage Do not be misled by advertisements These claim to relieve or cure ailments Many of us take them but be cautious Some herbs may just be noxious As we grow old, relationships matter Do try to know one another better We are sometimes rude to each other An apology should not be a bother Try to see another's point of view Giving way is nothing new Show our neighbours cordiality We may need them in an emergency As we grow old, we have other needs We don't know where our future leads If we have been good, that's swell Otherwise we may end up in hell It matters not what you believe in As long as we do not live in sin Say our prayers more frequently We may have to pass on in a hurry As we grow old, we have leisure Too much of it is not a pleasure To keep fit exercise regularly Play a game or walk briskly Take up a part-time job if we can Or do volunteer work now and then Take up a hobby or two if we will Surfing the Internet can be a thrill (The Star section 2, 19 June 2000) |
