George Town - World Heritage Site
The old part of George Town was granted world heritage status in 2008. It is a living heritage city where people live and work. There are some old buildings which are still in the process of being restored. With the help of a tourist map, you can walk about to view the heritage buildings. You can also pay for a ride in a trishaw from Upper Penang Road and it takes you around the heritage area. During festive seasons different races celebrate by decorating the streets and performing cultural dances.
