Batu Ferringhi
This area is known for beaches, hotels and restaurants. The beaches are crowded during the weekends with several sea activities which have been regulated recently to make them safer. However, there are still reports of accidents due to lax enforcement. The hotels by the beach are expensive as they are mostly four and five star ones. You can walk along the main road at night and bargain for all sorts of things sold at roadside stalls. But note that Rolex watches, Nike shorts, Adidas sweatshirts, etc are not the real stuff but good fakes. There are also numerous restaurants but also note that the food can be costly as it is meant especially for tourists.
