Welcome to Penang Island
Penang Island, Malaysia is reportedly one of the top tourist spots in Asia. It is a tropical island and it's hot and humid with intermittent rainfall. It is known for its hawker food, beaches and shopping. The locals are mainly Malays, Chinese and Indians. Progress has taken a toll on the island and it is now dotted with high-rise buildings. The cost of living has also gone up but this has not deterred the recent influx of rich foreigners who make this island their second home.
Food on the island:
During the holiday seasons the roads are jammed with local and overseas visitors. Some come to visit the tourist sites but most come for the hawker food. A few of them are even known to pack perishable goodies like laksa and durians in thermos flasks to take home.
